Our military records from 1867 onwards are supplemented by over 87,000 volumes in the library.

It is particularly worth highlighting our extensive collection of divisional histories, biographies, defence systems, army documents and war history. Our collection is supplemented by historical, political and legal documents, as well as general and special reference works.

Use of the Military Collections

Our library holdings are available to our archive users and staff alike. They can be requested at the lending desk or through our library personnel. Our location in Freiburg does not participate in the inter-library loan service.

Our online catalogue contains over 8,500 titles and authority records on our special collections including all newly acquired items since 1996. You can open this link to find new acquisitions grouped into months and numerous subject areas.

Our libraries also offer conventional alphabetical catalogues and themed catalogues, giving visitors access to a wide range of military literature that is yet to be added to the online catalogue.
