MEX Software

Das Projekt <daofind+> wrde im Dezember 2007 abgeschlossen. Die im Projekt erstellte Software MEX (MidosaEditor für XML-Standards) steht jetzt zum Download bereit gestellt.

Der MidosaEditor für XML-Standards MEX nutzt EAD, EAC und METS zur Erstellung strukturierter Internet Präsentationen von Archivgut einschließlich der Bereitstellung digitaler Reproduktionen im Kontext. Die MEX-Werkzeuge schließen die Plattform Eclipse mit Konfigurationen für typische archivschische Erschließungsaufgaben ein. 

Mit MEX können vollständige Internet-Präsentationen einschließlich Beständeübersichten, Findbücher und Ansichtsplattformen für Digitalisate zu jeder Verzeichnungseinheit erstellt werden. Die Funktionen umfassen den Import valider Dateien, die Erfassung und Bearbeitung der Daten für Findmittel und Digitalisate sowie die Umwandlung kombinierter Dateien für Findbücher mit Digtalisaten nach HTML in einem Schritt.

MEX ist mit fünf verschiedenen Konfigurationen mit englisch und deutscher  Oberfläche verfügbar. Jede Edition umfasst Eclipse. Sie werden installiert, indem die herunter geladenen Dateien in das gewünschte Verzeichnis entpackt werden.

Die verfügbaren Konfigurationen sind:

- Erweiterte Findbücher für Sachakten - Standardfindbücher für Sachakten - Findbücher für Nachlässe - Findbücher für Personalakten- Beständeübersichten 

In jede der Findbuchkonfigurationen ist ein METS-Editor für die Integration von Digitalisaten in Online-Findbücher integriert.  

MEX ist verfügbar für Windows XP und Vista sowie für MAC OS X.

MEX (Midosa Editor for XML Stanards) uses the international standards EAD, EAC and METS to edit structured  Internet presentations of archives in context including digital reproductions. The tools are based on the Java development platform Eclipse with configuration sets for typical settings in archival practice.

The Midosa Editor for XML-Standards MEX combines XML-files confirming to EAD, EAC and METS and builds complete presentations including linked finding aids on holdings level and on collection level as well as digital archival objects for each descriptive unit. It includes import of valid files, capturing, editing and transformation of combined XML-files to HTML in one step.

MEX is offered here in five different editions with special archival configuration sets for typical descriptive tasks. Each edition includes eclipse and is installed by unpacking the download file.

The actually available editions of MEX are:

·        Online finding aids for subject files - basic version

·        Online finding aids for subject files - extended version

·        Online finding aids for personal papers

·        Online finding aids for personal or person-related files

·        Online holdings guides

An editor for METS files is included into the configurations for finding aids. It is used to build a presentation model for digitised images. The HTML generator can produce a presentation uising the EAD file for the finding aids and the METS files for the images in one step. 

MEX is delivered in German and English for Windows XP and Vista and for MAC OS X. Examples of presentations can be seen at the links in the right hand news block.
